Once Pure angels the DownCast have long ago fallen from Grace. They sought only the same freedoms God so quickly offered His newest creation, Man. Denied, they rebelled, war erupted in Heaven waging angels against angels. Blood flowed like water staining them all.
At last defeated by the angels that stayed loyal they were cast out of Heaven, cursed never to return. Trapped on Earth with the humans they so resented they have accepted their fate and embraced their curse. They gained their freedom at the cost of their home and their Grace.
The DownCast serve under Lucifer, once the brightest of all Angels, but their rules are loose at best. DownCast easily hide within human society, able to hide their wings with the aid of enchanted amulets. Most have found positions of power in business and politics. Unlike their Pure brethren, DownCast have gray or black wings, but that is the only discernable difference between the two angelic forces. Like Daemos they can shift between Mortal and Spirit Realms with a thought. They can heal or kill with a single touch, but unlike the Pure their powers do not come from Illumination but from Shadow.
